UK Roofing Awards Local Hero Award – Entry Terms & Conditions
- The “Local Hero” award (“Award”) is made in conjunction with SIG Trading Limited T/A SIG Roofing, Harding Way, St Ives, Cambridgeshire PE27 3YJ (company no. 01451007) (“SIG Roofing”). The Award is a category of The UK Roofing Awards 2024 which are organised by the National Federation of Roofing Contractors, 31 Worship Street, London, EC2A 2DY (company no. 02591364) (“NFRC”).
- A person entering the Award (the “Entrant”) hereby confirm that they have the authority, and have obtained the express consent, of the relevant person being nominated (the “Nominee”) in submitting a nomination on their behalf. In doing so, both the Entrant and the Nominee (if different) agree to be bound by these Terms of Entry, and to the use of personal information in accordance with SIG Roofing’s Privacy Policy available as a link on this website. By entering the Award, the Entrant and the Nominee also agree to be contacted by the NFRC and / or their nominated third-party organisations to discuss their entry in more detail.
- Entry to the award is open to residents of the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man aged over 16 years but the Nominee must be a resident of the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man aged over 18 years.
- Entries from agents, third parties or consumer groups will not be accepted.
- All entries are free and must be submitted in English, submitted online at sigroofing.co.uk/local-hero, or via the Nomination Form and comply with the following entry criteria:
the Nominee must be an individual trading as a roofing contractor in the UK; and
b. the Nominee’s business must have 15 or less employees. - There will only be one winner of the Award (the “Winner”) which shall be selected from nominations judged by a panel of SIG Roofing and NFRC representatives (“Judges”). The Judges reserve the right to re-classify or reject any entry that does not comply with the requirements of these Terms of Entry. No feedback will be given on individual entries. In all matters, the decision of the Judges shall be final, and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered.
- The Judges shall consider Nominees for the Award who have shown evidence of having undertaken a feat or act of courage, kindness, altruism or nobility of purpose in the 12 months prior to 31st December 2022 and the Judges shall select one Winner at their sole discretion. Examples of such feats or acts include:
helped a worthy individual or group; or
ii. helped a charity; or
iii. helped the local community / community project; or
iv. raised money for charity; or
v. contributed the Roofing Contractor’s time to a worthy cause; or
vi. contributed the Roofing Contractor’s skills to a worthy cause; or
vii. saved a life or someone from physical harm; or
viii. given their time to help young or disadvantaged people. - Even though the nomination is for a Roofing Contractor the nomination reason does not have to relate to a roofing project.
- SIG Roofing or the NFRC accepts no responsibility or liability for any lost or incomplete entries howsoever caused and all such entries will be deemed invalid. Proof of dispatch shall not be proof of entry.
- Winners of the Award exclude employees of SIG Roofing or the NRFC and their immediate families, its associated agents or anyone professionally associated with the administration of this Award.
- Free of charge entry tickets to the UK Roofing Awards 2024 will be awarded to the Winner and one guest of the Winner, however no other costs will be paid for (including and not limited to travel and accommodation). The prize for the Winner is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered.
- Where the winner is not already a Member of NFRC (National Federation of Roofing Contractors), they will be awarded one year’s free Trade Membership to NFRC (courtesy of the promoter) – subject to meeting the qualifying criteria. For more details, please visit: https://www.nfrc.co.uk/join-nfrc
- If the winner is already an NFRC Member, then the promoter will pay the following year’s membership, subject to them still being eligible for membership.
- SIG Roofing reserves the right at its sole discretion to alter or cancel the Awards including replacing the prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value at its sole discretion and to amend these Terms of Entry without prior notice.
- Insofar as is permitted by law and without affecting any statutory rights, SIG Roofing, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the Winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of SIG Roofing, its agents or distributors or that of their employees.
- All entries may be used by SIG Roofing and the NFRC for our normal commercial purposes including within publicity and marketing for the UK Roofing Awards. By entering the Award, you agree to such use without restriction or condition. SIG Roofing and the NFRC shall be entitled to edit or amend your entry as it sees fit for these purposes.
- These Terms of Entry shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
- The Promoter reserves the right to amend, cancel or withdraw the promotion at any time without notice.
- Final Entry date is 12th April 2024

Entrants must be a Roofing Contractor that is a member of at least one of the following trade associations/ organisations:
- FTMRC
- GRO
- LRWA
- MAC
- MCRMA
- NFRC
- NFRC Competent Person Scheme (formerly known as CompetentRoofer)
- SPRA
2024 Entry Requirements
- Activities/behaviours must have taken place between 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2023.
- Entries can only be submitted online. No other method of entry will be accepted.
