Background:

Eco-Sun Solutions is an MCS certified Solar Panel Installer with over 25 years of experience in the renewable energy market. They were approached by Lakeside Hotel in the Isle of Wight, to quote for on-roof solar panels.

The hotel wanted to save money and to protect their business against both fluctuating and escalating commercial energy prices. The hotel has a heavy daytime energy usage due to the demand of power required to support the large pool, spa and individual hot tubs that their guests use on a daily basis.

Josh at Eco-Sun Solutions selected products from Solar Edge for this installation as they give the ability to have no single point of failure. If there was an issue with a panel, the technology identifies the panel and how to address the issue. Without SolarEdge and optimised panels the installer would have to go back to site and test each panel to find a fault resulting in huge costs in labour and scaffolding if remedials were required.

Eco-Sun Solutions ordered the specified products to be supplied by SIG Roofing in Bournemouth who delivered to site.

Six installers were allocated to the project and completed the work in three weeks. The client is said to be delighted with the result and enjoying lower energy bills.

Product Choice: 

248 Trina Vertex Solar Panels – S+ 455W Dual Glass Black White N-Type Mono – were specified and delivered to the project as they are readily available and offer an excellent cost per watt. Each panel as 1.7m x 1.2m in size. They are premium N-Type monocrystalline solar panels featuring robust dual-glass construction for superior durability, enhanced light capture, and long-term performance stability. The Vertex S+ is also compatible with most mainstream inverters, optimisers, and mounting systems.

Clenergy Rail System for mounting these panels was chosen as it is a well-known, and tried and tested system and is readily available from stock at SIG Roofing.

SolarEdge Synergy 50kw 3ph inverter & s1000 optimisers were selected to maximse the solar system efficiency for this commercial installation. They enable panel-level monitoring, reducing shading losses, and optimising energy production.

Various fittings were also supplied to complete the installation.

Overall, the client is very happy with the installation and energy savings received so far.
