Competition Terms & Conditions

Promoter
The Great British Slate Off is promoted and administered by the National Federation of Roofing Contractors Limited (NFRC), in partnership with SIG Roofing.

Eligibility
Entry is open to individuals aged 18 or over who are residents of the United Kingdom and are currently working in, or training towards, a role within the roofing industry.

Employees of NFRC, SIG Roofing, associated companies, and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter.

Entry Method
Entries must be submitted online and must include a video demonstrating the entrant’s slate roofing skills in accordance with the competition brief.

The video must be between 45 seconds and 2 minutes long and a maximum file size of 25MB.

Full submission guidance will be provided by SIG.

Only complete entries received before the closing date will be accepted.

Opening and Closing Dates
The competition opens on 18 March 2026

The closing date for entries is 1 May 2026

Entries received after this date may not be considered.

Finalists will be notified week commencing 18 May 2026.

Judging and Selection
This is a skill-based competition.

Entries will be assessed by an industry judging panel appointed by NFRC.

Entries will be evaluated based on:

– Technical skill

– Craftsmanship

– Quality of finish

– Presentation

Three entrants will be selected as finalists to take part in the live Great British Slate Off final at the InstallerSHOW 2026 (at NEC, Birmingham, 23 – 25 June 2026).

The decision of the judging panel is final.

Three finalists will receive:

– Two days of training in ornamental slating delivered by NFRC

– Accommodation and VIP access to InstallerSHOW 2026

– Behind-the-scenes industry engagement opportunities

– The opportunity to participate in the live final of Great British Slate Off

– SIG Roofing Goodie Bag Prize. The prize consists of a SIG Roofing goodie bag, which includes an assortment of SIG Roofing merchandise and vouchers.

Vouchers are redeemable at participating SIG Roofing branches only. To find your nearest location, please visit www.sigroofing.co.uk. Vouchers are non-transferable, non-refundable, and cannot be exchanged for cash or alternative products. To claim your vouchers, the winner must contact [email protected] within 28 days of being notified. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of the prize. SIG Roofing reserves the right to substitute the contents of the goodie bag with items of equal or greater value, subject to availability. Unless explicitly stated, travel and subsistence are not included. Finalist’s prizes are non-transferable, and no cash alternative will be offered.

Prize Conditions
Participation in the competition or receipt of a prize does not constitute employment, accreditation or endorsement by NFRC or SIG Roofing.

Finalists must be available to attend InstallerSHOW 2026 from 23 – 25 June 2026.

Intellectual Property
By entering, participants grant NFRC and SIG Roofing a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use both submitted photo or video content, including any content taken at the InstallerSHOW, for promotional, educational and industry engagement purposes.

Data Protection
Personal data submitted as part of the competition will be used solely for the administration of the competition and related promotional activity.

All data will be processed in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation.

Disqualification
NFRC reserves the right to disqualify any entry which:

– Is incomplete

– Does not meet the entry criteria

– Demonstrates unsafe working practices

– Is deemed misleading or inappropriate.

Publicity
Finalists may be required to participate in reasonable promotional activity relating to the competition.

Liability
NFRC accepts no responsibility for:

– Lost or delayed entries

– Technical failures

– Event changes outside of its control.

NFRC reserves the right to amend or cancel the competition where reasonably necessary.

Governing Law
This competition is governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Live competition
The live competition final terms and conditions will be made available to the finalists.
