SIG Roofing were delighted to see the recent completion of Ben’s project by the Band of Builders charity. A dozen volunteer roofers installed a new roof in a bid to stop the leaks and damp at the home of an eight-year-old Selby boy who is in remission from acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
SIG Roofing supported the renovation project, and our branch in York sourced and delivered all the roofing products to the site free of charge, including SR Timber Premium Gold roofing batten, anthracite roofing tiles, membranes, five solar panels, and accessories. The three-bedroom Victorian house, which has been extended over the years, features a mix of flat and apex roofs. The work involved replacing a 10×5 m apex roof, and the team of volunteers worked hard to complete the project in just four days.
Joe McLatchie, National Supply Chain Manager for AccuRoof, a part of SIG Roofing , was one of the volunteers on the project: “It was such a special experience to work with the Band of Builders; the vibe was really positive, and the volunteer roofers poured their hearts into getting everything done. I really admired the work they did. If you ever get the chance to help out on one of these projects, I highly recommend it! It’s a lot of fun and so rewarding!”
SIG Roofing announced its partnership with the Band of Builders last year. The charity was established in 2016 and undertakes practical projects to support members of the UK construction industry who are battling illness or injury. For each project, volunteers come together to help their fellow tradespeople through renovations or repairs that make a real difference to their lives.
