About Band of Builders

Band of Builders was born in 2016 when the founder took to social media to ask for help renovating the home of close friend and colleague Keith Ellick who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. The incredible response from tradespeople across the UK saw the project completed and demonstrated what can be achieved when the industry stands together. From there, Band of Builders was formed and continues to complete further projects across the UK with the value of #TogetherStronger at its core. In 2019 the organisation gained charity status in England and Wales and now works formally to help members of the construction industry and their families across the country in their hour of need. Since that first project to help Keith, Band of Builders has completed a wide range of projects with a combined delivery value of over £1m which includes accessible bathrooms and kitchens, wheelchair ramps, cabins and even complete home renovations. We provide practical, financial and wellbeing support to support members of the construction sector and partner with industry leaders to ensure we can help as many people as possible.

SIG Roofing Support

We are thrilled that SIG Roofing has chosen to support Band of Builders, and we see great potential in the strategic partnership moving forward. The partnership gives our charity greater visibility and reach to the staff and customers of all of the SIG Roofing brands – meaning we can promote our work to a wider audience. This will hopefully help us increase the size of our volunteer base. SIG Roofing is keen to get involved not only by supplying materials for forthcoming projects but also by encouraging staff to visit sites to volunteer on projects.

When we heard about Band of Builders and their mission, we immediately felt a strong connection. Seeing firsthand the amazing work they do to support construction workers and their families in times of need, whether it’s illness, injury, or other life-changing events, really struck a chord with us. The Big Brew Event

Throughout October and November, we host the Big Brew at our SIG Roofing branches across the nation. Whether you’re picking up roofing supplies or just passing by, come in for a cuppa and a chat. We’ll have giveaways and plenty of support information on hand. The Big Brew is an annual campaign that invites tradespeople to come together for a brew, breaking down the barriers surrounding mental health. It’s more than just a cup of tea, we want to:

  • Raise awareness about mental health and how to seek support within our industry.
  • Fundraise to offer free wellbeing services for those in need.
  • Shine a light on the unique challenges faced by workers and colleagues within our industry.
  • Build a sense of community and encourage support for one another.
