Solofix one-piece clip and nail helps meet BS 5534:2014.
As we’ve already seen, the revised BS 5534:2014 – the Code of Practice for Slating and Tiling – has led to a significant increase in the requirement for clipping. Another handy new product to help contractors implement the more stringent fixing requirements of the new code.
Traditionally, clips and nails come in separate bags and need threading together before installation, which adds to labour time and cost. As a one-piece clip and nail, SoloFix, comparable in price to standard aluminium clips, can save contractors as much as 30% on roof clipping time.
- Single clip solution with installation speed of a traditional nail
- Manufactured from Zinc Aluminium (ZiAl) – a unique, high grade composite
- Strength and performance of stainless steel
- Withstands the harshest environmental conditions across the UK
- Resistant to gale force winds and salt corrosion
- Available in two pack sizes for all standard Marley Eternit interlocking tiles
- Saves time and money
THE ONLY WAY IS SOLOFIX
Welsh roofing contractor Camilleri was one of the first to trial SoloFix, and now uses it across many of their roofing projects. Director Mathew Camilleri explains why it’s their clip of choice: “We trialled the SoloFix clip and found it was far quicker to install than traditional two-piece clips and nails. This adds up to a big saving in labour time when you carry out the amount of clipping work we do. We carry SoloFix as a stock item, as it’s so much easier to use the same clip across all the projects that use Marley Eternit interlocking tiles. Now, the roofers don’t ever want to go back to using the fiddly separate clips and nails!”
Camilleri is currently using SoloFix with Marley Eternit’s Edgemere slate effect interlocking tiles on a new-build social housing development at Gorse Place in Cardiff. There are fourteen two and three bedroom homes being built by Greenwich Communities Ltd for United Welsh Housing Association as part of a £1.7 million project.
The increased amount of clipping required on all roofs under the revised BS 5534 means there is growing demand for SoloFix. With contractors such as Camilleri seeing for themselves that Solofix offers the highest level of security by clipping, with reduced roof installation time.
