Sam Wilson, sales assistant at SIG Roofing Lewes, will be taking part in a charity boxing match to raise funds for Cancer Research UK later next month.
Taking place on the 30th of November, the black tie event is being held at The Grand Hotel in Brighton, a venue guaranteed to provide a great atmosphere for the evening ahead.
Sam commented: “Boxing has always been a sport that I’ve followed avidly and it’s been a while since I’ve been in the ring. Having recently turned 30, now is the perfect time to dust off my gloves all for a worthwhile cause. I’m thrilled to be able to take this opportunity and raise money for Cancer Research UK and raise funds to support those affected”.
Having been an avid boxer in the past, Sam hasn’t laced up his boots for six years. He is now facing the challenge head on and is undertaking an eight-week long training camp to prepare for his opponent.
Sam continued: “For any chance of winning the match, I’m going to be training four times a week with dedicated boxing training two times a week. I find out the identity of my opponent just two days before the big day, which I’m using as extra motivation!
“Cancer is one of those diseases that really has affected everyone in one form or another. It feels great that I will be able to contribute to Cancer Research UK and help fund their research”.
